Monofilament, synthetic, absorbable, sterile suture made of polydioxanone.
These sutures are indicated to be used for suturing and/or ligation of soft tissues in general surgery, orthopaedics, gastrointestinal surgery, gynaecology, but not for use in adult cardiovascular tissue, microsurgery and neurosurgery.
Material | Polydioxanone |
Structure | Multifilament braided |
Thread color | Violet/Undyed |
Sizes (USP) | 6/0 - 2 |
Tensile streght | Preserves at least 60% of the initial tensil strength after 28 days at 37 degrees C |
Properties | - Synthetic suture preserves its properties regardless of tissue condition, having a minimal tisular reaction.
- Absorbtion is done by hydrolysis and not by enzymatic digestion as biological sutures (catgut). Thus, the absorption time is constant regardless of the tissue or of the suture's size.
- Smooth and atraumatic passage through the tissues, due to its monofilament structure.
